UTD’s Printmaking
facility offers an intimate yet functional studio equipped
with computer access. Silkscreen and intaglio are offered
in this program as auxiliary experimental art making
procedures. These techniques may be combined with photography,
computer technology, drawing, painting and sculpture
to allow students to explore the conceptual as well
as visual.
The revival of printmaking in the arts is due in part
to new applications in technology along with an increasing
interest in reproductive image alteration. The experimental
nature of image development, design application, and
medium exploration all play an undeniable role in the
visual education, and nowhere else in the arts is
this
as vitally accessible as in the art of printmaking.
More and more artists are combining printmaking with
the other visual disciplines, mixing mediums, materials
and image sources to find their voice.
