Develop your creative potential through the innovative photography program in Art and Performance. Expand your technical expertise in fine art photography. Enhance your awareness of current
issues in contemporary art.

Join a flourishing art community. Exchange ideas with students, faculty and visiting artists. Traverse various art disciplines including new digital imaging technologies, art history, theatrical performance, creative writing, and drawing and painting. Exhibit photographs in group and solo shows. See new art in challenging exhibitions on view in the Visual Arts Building and in the larger Dallas arts community.

The core of the photography program consists of courses in black and white and color photography. Students continuing in advanced coursework will produce imagery for a portfolio or exhibition, developing critical responses to issues in contemporary art. Advanced classes vary in emphasis, from engagement in experimental processes to the use of specific equipment as in large format photography. Course offerings include Advanced Photography, History of Photography and Technical Photography. Related new media courses include Computer Imaging, Digital Photography, and Digital Video.

The photography facility includes two darkrooms with 13 black and white and 11 color enlargers, as well as a 20" color print processor. Photography equipment is available to students on a checkout basis. The School of Arts and Humanities provides high-end computer facilities for students working with camera-based imaging and emerging digital technologies.
