Drawing courses at the University of Texas at Dallas are designed to include a range of investigative exploration into the discipline of drawing, beginning with the fundamentals of academic drawing before moving on to advanced topics such as figure drawing, conceptual expressions, and medium and image experimentation. Our students obtain a grounded understanding of the fundamentals of drawing and its history before moving on to more individual contemporary adaptations of the medium.

Our fundamental philosophy is to treat drawing as a language, a tool for communication. Drawing is both an art form and a primary ingredient in the development of the visual dialogue found in works containing multiple mediums.
