About Indian Classical Music Circle (ICMC)
Indian Classical Music Circle (ICMC) of Dallas/Fort Worth is a non-profit organization dedicated to the presentation and documentation of traditional and contemporary music, dance and drama from India and the Indian sub-continent.  Since its inception in 1983, ICMC has built the most comprehensive concert series and is regarded as the premier producer and promoter of Indian classical music and dance in Dallas/Fort Worth and the surrounding area.

ICMC's mission is to interest, entertain, educate, train and provide spiritual nourishment to its members and the general public and to significantly contribute to the multiethnic heritage and the cultural vitality of the city through its concerts. ICMC seeks to serve as the platform for the world renowned as well as the budding, the international as well as the local exponents of the Indian performing arts, where they can bring forth enhanced exposure, awareness and appreciation of the rich legacy of India's ancient and diverse culture.  ICMC aspires to bring peace, harmony and enlightenment to mankind through music.

Satish Vyas (Santoor artist)
Satish Vyas is one of the most famous santoor (hammered dulcimer) players of India.  Satish was introduced to vocal music by his father C.R. Vyas, India's top-notch vocalist.  In 1978, he began learning the santoor under the guidance of Shiv Kumar Sharma.  Vyas is currently the best known and one of the most accomplished classical santoor players.

Vyas has performed and recorded all over India and the world.  He has helped popularize the santoor in remote places by performing in small villages and towns in addition to major city centers.  In 1997, he was the only non-Western instrumentalist invited to perform in Venice, Italy at the "Mostra Mozart Festival," organized by the prestigious European Mozart Foundation.  Vyas showcased his versatility by performing as a guest musician with the Jazz/World Music Fusion Group, "Silk," accompanying the renowned vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, the percussion maestro Shivamani, composer/pianist/keyboardist Louis Banks and bass guitarist Karl Peters at a Barbican Centre concert in London.

Before making music his profession, Satish Vyas completed a bachelor's degree in mathematics, a master's degrees in statistics and master’s degree in business administration (MBA).  He is an "A" Grade Artiste of All India Radio.  Vyas has recorded with UK-based Navras Records, Sony Music, Music Today, Times Music and BMG Crescendo.  For ten years, he has been a director of Navras Records in India.  Navras is a prestigious classical and traditional music label, originally set up in London.  Vyas received the Padma Shri award from the government of India.

Mukundraj Deo (Tabla artist)
Mukundraj Deo received his initial guidance in Indian classical music from his mother, Mrs. Manjiri Deo, a well known Kathak Dancer.  Brijraj Mishra of Banaras Gharana & Mridangraj of Ajrada Gharana were his teachers in the tabla. He was awarded a National Scholarship (1990) and a National Fellowship (1999) by the Government of India.  Deo holds a degree of Sangeet Visharad in table.   Sursinger Sansad of Bombay awarded Deo the TALMANI title. He is an 'A' Grade Artiste of All India Radio & Doordarshan.

Deo has performed throughout the world as a soloist and as an accompanist to many well known instrumentalists, vocalist and Kathak dancers.  Some of the artists he has accompanied are Begum Parveen Sultana, C.R. Vyas, Dr. Prabha Atre, Prabhakar Karekar, Mrs. Arti Alkalikar-Tikekar, Birjoo Maharaj, Nataraj Gopikrishna, Ustad Rais Khan, Dr. N. Rajam and Kartik Kumar.  Deo has performed in several prestigious music festivals and conferences throughout India and abroad.
