An advanced degree in the History of Ideas will present the Masters or Ph.D. candidate with the opportunity to develop exemplary skills in critical interpretation and inquiry. This major often focuses on broad avenues of thought, such as themes that have shaped intellectual and cultural lives in Europe and the United States. It also encompasses major movements in culture such as feminism. Further studies include examinations of the impact of world events, such as the Holocaust, in order to understand the political and psychological impact on culture and society.
