About the UT Dallas Community ChoraleThe UT Dallas Community Chorale is a 40 - 80 voice chorale. The Chorale is open to all UT Dallas students as a credit course and to community members who are interested in singing challenging music in a wide variety of styles and are willing to learn their part. The Chorale performs for the Fall Arts Festival and Spring Arts Festival. The mission of this Chorale is to give student singers and community singers the opportunity to enjoy performing choral music. Emphasis is placed on producing free and beautiful sounds while achieving a the highest level of performance. Singers will benefit in the improvement of their singing technique and from meeting mutual musical goals with others. Over the past semesters the Chorale has given performances of composers ranged from George F Handel, Sir Edward Elgar, William Billings, Morten Lauridsen, Orlando di Lasso, Henry Purcell, Antonio Vivaldi to Aaron Copland, W.A. Mozart, Franz Schubert, Gabriel Faure, John Rutter, Ward Swingle, and Benjamin Britten. This Spring, on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 8:00 p.m., the Chorale will perform the Lord Nelson Mass and Te Deum by Joseph Haydn with orchestra. Featured soloists will be Kathryn Evans, Soprano, Rebecca Campbell, Alto, Bruce Fowler, tenor (http://www.music.sfasu.edu/faculty/b_fowler.html), and Blake Davidson, Baritone(http://blakedavidson.net/). |
